Description of the Treatment Process

Primary Separation tank
Waste water effluent is sent to the primary separation tank and retains it for a minimum number of hours (typically four), to reduce the BOD to a minimum of 35%. The tank provides automatic separation of solids, having the heavier solids settled to the bottom of the tank.

Aeration Tanks Train
The water separated from the solids and the floatables flows into the aerations tanks to be aerobically digested within the activated sludge design.

Settling Tank
The flow leaving the aerations tanks train has been processed both aerobically and anaerobically and enters the final settling tank. Floatable matter will rise in the tank and solids will settle into the bottom. Solids are then returned to the first aeration tank or to the primary separation tank and treated water runs through the spillway to the Disinfection tank.

Disinfection Tank
When using chlorine the disinfection tank provides enough detention time to disinfect the water, which is then sent for re-usage.

Aerobic Sludge Digestor
An Aerobic sludge digestor is optional and allows wasting of the sludge.
